A few story beats for PathsConverged I’ve been thinking about:
>ME3, Priority Surkesh. Shepard and crew go down to pick up the Krogan female. Once Cerberus launches their attack, Mordin pulls Roland aside to give him experimental weapon that’s built off Jjaro technology. Roland wonders where they got the tech, but puts the question aside for later. My take on the Wave Motion Cannon. Sequence plays out where Roland basically goes nuts with the thing. Inspired by that moment in Half-Life when you acquire the Tau Cannon.
>ME3, after Shepard goes into custody, Roland tells Garrus he’s going with him to Palaven. The two of them both know that the Reapers will try to take out the turian military first, and Roland internally is hesitant about going back to Earth. This point would also be a sign that’s Roland is trying to move past his prejudices against aliens, especially Turians, considering his history. I plan on setting up Roland as a notable figure during the war, and his fighting on Palaven will be the catalyst to his image turning from murderous psycho to hero.
>ME2, the crew goes out for a drink on Ilium, Roland gets drunk for the first time in years. Surprisingly a happy drunk, but a it’s bit forced to hide his sorrow.
Few more to eventually come. One involving Joyeuse.

>Ooh now this is interesting. For one, I would love to see the character growth between Garrus and Roland to allow them to come to Palaven together as friends. To see Garrus sitting his father down and discuss the Reaper invasion with Roland helping from the sidelines.
But on the other hand the shear PTSD trauma Roland will go through from time to time as he comes to grips with the fact he was imprisoned and had to fight his way off this planet so many years ago. Maybe Garrus helps him out with that as well?
>Now I have this happy image of Roland drinking at Matriarch Aethyta's (Liara's Dad) bar. Maybe giving Conrad Verner a punch in the gut for trying to impersonate Shepard. Ooh! Have Roland and Shepard participate in a contest on who is the worst dancer. ^_^

I was thinking Roland would become sort of a legend in the galactic community during the war. Word spreads quickly about a strange armored human leading the fight on Palaven. It’d be a nice reversal.
I’ll say right now, Roland would probably lose that contest. At least Shepard knows how to shuffle. Also, I think Roland might accidentally kill Conrad if he did that.
